Charleston-based interior designer Megan Ann McFarland began her business only a year ago after sharing her own home design on her Instagram account sparking friends and soon clients to ask for her help. In her full service design studio in downtown Charleston, she offers services for residential, commercial and virtual clients and will soon launch her e-commerce shop this month. We love her web series where she shares easy styling tips so we asked Megan to share some of her ideas on how to refresh your home for the warmer months ahead.
Pretty Plants and Blooms
"One of my favorite things to do is visit our local plant nurseries and see all the new goodies they get in for spring! I always gravitate towards palms and full pink and white flowers. Combining the two has kind of become my signature touch."
Light and Bright Bedding
"There’s nothing more fresh than light white bedding. I’m a big fan of white linen duvets filled with ultra light down comforters to keep you cool during the warmer months."
"Art is the jewel of the home. I always encourage my clients to invest in one beautiful piece that draws interest and is meaningful to them. I’m a big fan of Charleston scenes specifically these prints and giclees by local artist Danielle Cohen sold exclusively in my shop."
"You will never walk into my home without a candle burning and spring is the perfect time to swap out your candles for something crisp and refreshing like the MacBailey Candle Co. Copper Lantern Candle - it’s citrus scent is so yummy. My signature touch is to wrap welcome beads around them to give it a little something extra."
"Spring is the best time to switch up those pillows! Look for soft prints in blush and blue and always ground your printed pillows with a solid pair of white or cream linen."
