Pillow Talk: Clary Bosbyshell

Clary Bosbyshell obtained an eye for design and impeccable taste at an early age. Having grown up immersed in the world of design - her mother Margaret Bosbyshell founded Margaux Interiors Ltd. in 1982 - Clary studied design and worked in fashion merchandising before joining Margaux in 2009. Today, Clary takes on residential and commercial projects across the spectrum that all evoke "smart and stylish" design. One of her best is our own Lake Pajama's office. Enjoy our Pillow Talk with Clary below as we learn about her favorite inspirations as well her wisdom on collecting antiques.

1. Why do you love what you do?

Not only do I love the creative part of being an interior designer but what I love most is the relationships I build with my clients. Designing someone's home is very personal and the most joy I receive is seeing how happy my clients are once their home is finished.

2. How did you get to where you are now?

Hard work! Before I had my own clients, I was my mom's, Margaret Bosbyshell's apprentice. I honed my skills and learned the ins and outs of the business. She gave the best piece of advice, which I love to tell my young clients. If you purchase one special antique a year, in 10 years you'll have an amazing collection. I've been collecting since I was 23 and I've got some great pieces.

3. Who are three of your style muses?

I'm always looking to Olivia Palermo for fashion inspiration; she is great at mixing basic and trendy items in very unexpected ways. And I have always admired Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's timeless look. When I was thinking about my wedding, I would ask myself, "what would Carolyn do?" For interior designers, I am constantly looking to Bunny Williams for inspiration. She is just BRILLIANT!

4. What is your next travel destination?

The Bahamas. We are staying at the Lyford Cay Club with friends for my 34th birthday. I am beyond excited to see the club decor; everything that Tom Scheer decorates is fabulous.

5. What is currently on your bedside table?

An antique Chinese export porcelain dish to hold my jewelry at night, a framed picture of my family, a Here'd Lemon given to me by my mother-in-law, and stacks and stacks of fashion design magazines.

6. Tell us something that people may not know about you!

I have been collecting china since I was 23 and have 5 sets. My husband calls it a problem, I say it's a PASSION!
