1. Why do you love what you do?

Fashion is so much more to me than the beauty of the clothing themselves, but it is also the way you express yourself.  I love helping women discover another side of themselves and walk out the door empowered to tackle their next hardship or their next adventure with their suit of armor.  I have been in so many dressing rooms with women at their most vulnerable moments and I feel grateful that they trust me to be there and help them express on the outside who they are or want to be on the inside.

2. How did you get to where you are now?

Hard work and humility.  After graduating from Vanderbilt, I learned a true work ethic from being an assistant buyer & department manager at Neiman Marcus.  I opened Hampden in February 2007 and there certainly have been tough moments over the years, but I was willing to make the sacrifices necessary to always put my business ahead of everything, except my husband.  He has been my continual cheerleader and supporter and I could not continually put on my fashion armor and go for it day after day without him.

3. Who are three of your style muses?

I love the style and more importantly the message behind the Man Repeller because I think fashion should be about yourself and not dressing for men.  I love the individual style of Camille Charrière because I like her take on mixing masculine and feminine pieces.  Finally, I love taking my inspiration from my travels and the people I see eating at the cafes in Milan, riding the metro in Paris, and walking the streets in New York because there are so many different people expressing their style.  It is my job to take pieces of that inspiration and make it my own.

4. What is your next travel destination?

I go to Milan January 20th and then to Paris January 22nd until January 28th, then New York February 8th until February 19th, and then back to Milan on February 28th and then Paris until March 8th. Even typing this out makes me exhausted. Eek!!

5. What is currently on your bedside table?

A gratitude journal.  No matter what happens in the day, good or bad, there is always something small to be grateful for each and every day.

6. Tell us something that people may not know about you?

I am an identical twin.  My twin sister lives in Charleston with her husband and two adorable children who call me “Mom 2”.  They look even look like me but I get to give them back to my twin sis to put them to bed.  HA.
